The
origin of bidet is unsure, however it most probably dates back
to France to the beginning of the XVIII century. The first sure
evidence having been dated around 1710. In that year, Christophe Des Rosiers
(the probable inventor), installed one at the French Royal Family's
bedroom. Curiously, despite the french origin, nowadays bidets have
virtually disappeared from french bedrooms. From
Victorian times, with the technical improvement in piping and drains, bidets and
chamber pots disappeared from the bedroom to the bathroom.
In
the 1960's, an electronical bidet, the coupling of a normal toilet with a
bidet, was introducted to the market for the first time, particularly
adapted for smaller rooms where there is not enough space for both toilet and bidet.
Beginning of the 80's, the electronical bidet is commercialised
on a major scale in Japan. Nowadays, more than 50 percent of Japanese and Korean
households have installed an electronical bidet in their home, and
now the rest of the world is beginning to appreciate the benifits.
The
multifunctional Uspa Bidet is made in South Korea is
exported worldwide. United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany,
France and naturally Japan, are just a few of the countries that are
discovering the comfort and convenience of electronic bidets. Now available in the U.K. and Europe.
